The Crystal Witch Book Review

Back in October, I picked up an informative little book, The Good Witch’s Perpetual Planner by Shawn Robbins and Charity Bedell. I enjoyed the book so much, I knew I needed more from this series of books. Immediately, I ordered The Good Witch’s Guide by Shawn Robbins and Charity Bedell, and Wiccapedia, The Witch’s Way and The Crystal Witch by Shawn Robbins and Leanna Greenaway.

I decided to read The Crystal Witch first because I’m kind of having a crystal moment right now. I’ve been pretty much obsessed with building my own crystal palace. So, it was only natural that I gravitated to this book in particular.

Now, if you’ve read my book, or some of my social media posts, you know I really don’t consider myself Wiccan. This is despite the fact that exactly half of my bloodline is from the Welsh/English/Irish Wiccan tradition. And, the coven I was a member of was Wiccan. But lately, I’ve found myself drawn to my Wiccan roots like never before. So, these books have been a wonderful way for me to reconnect my Wiccan ties.

The Crystal Witch is a skillfully written, illuminating tome, it’s pages filled with enlightening information. It’s truly amazing the amount of data contained within this little book.

In Part 1, you’ll learn everything from how to build your crystal toolkit, crystal correspondences, cleansing and charging your stones, to crystal spells for everyday issues.

Part 2 explores utilizing crystals with moon phases, divination, reiki, astrology and the Wiccan Wheel of the Year.

Although I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on the subject of crystals, I was able to learn many new ways to use my stones in all of my works of magick, be it spells or meditation. I thoroughly appreciated the A-Z Crystal Guide. Since I have the tendency to use the same crystals over and over again, it was nice to discover new ones I could introduce into my craft. I’ve often felt overwhelmed after reading a book on crystals. There is so much to learn and remember about each particular stone. I didn’t feel that way after reading The Crystal Witch. All of the information was concise and relevant.

My favorite chapter was Crystals through the Year. Each Sabbat has a beautifully written description with elements and traditions, along with a special spell.

I believe every witch can learn something reading The Crystal Witch. Even if, like me, you don’t consider yourself Wiccan, I think you’ll glean a better understanding of working with crystals in your craft.

Best Yule Gifts For Witches

To be honest, this is NOT my favorite time of year. You can call me Scrooge or The Grinch; but, I find it a bit too hectic and draining of my energy. I can’t help think that it was never supposed to be this way. All the commercialism, gift buying, family drama, or for many people, loneliness, can completely ruined the holiday season.

For many of us non-Christians, we can also feel resentful about the obligation to participate in Christmas themed activities. This time of year, it’s impossible not to be inundated with reminders that we are the minority.

But, as a small business owner, I’d be stupid if I didn’t at least try to capitalize on the fervor created by the holidays. After all, everyone enjoys a nice gift, even witches.

Me shopping local small businesses at Historic Woodstock Square.

I encourage you to shop small business as much as possible. Most small business owners truly appreciate your support, especially around the holidays.

Here are some of my favorite witchy small businesses:

Just remember, if the holidays leave you frazzled, lonely, or feeling negative in any way, you are not alone. I encourage you to celebrate the holiday you’re most drawn to; or, no holiday at all, if you prefer. Don’t feel pressured to conform to the majority. Educate others about your beliefs, Sabbats, and traditions. I think you might be surprised at how receptive and accommodating people can be. If you think about it, they probably feel the same way about Halloween, when we’re all getting our freak on and celebrating. LOL!
